Tom, I just wanted to thank you for the
opportunity to fish with a professional as your self. You have created another
proud moment for a father and son. I have taught my 3 sons how to hunt and fish.
I was there when each of my boys killed their first whitetail and gobblers, we
have fished and hunted from Canada to Florida. Now I have a new memory with one
of my boys when we both caught our first striper,I plan on getting my |

Hello Tom,
Just wanted to take a few moments to thank you again for the
great fun my dad and I had will while fishing with you. You always make a
special effort to have fresh live bait and are always willing to do what ever
is necessary to help catch fish. Dad is now 86 years old and your boat is
comfortable, safe, and reliable out on the water and we really appreciate
that. Thanks again for the effort that you put forth to for all your clients
to show them a wonderful time on Lake Norfork. I hope you have a great season.
Regards,
Kent Marcek

I have been pheasant hunting for over 30 years and this was by far the best day I have ever had. Tom is a great guide (fishing and hunting) and his 2 labs worked their tails off. His older lab made the farthest retrieve I have ever seen. I have also caught my biggest striped bass with Tom at 25 lbs. So if you want a great trip amongst the most beautiful scenery in the country, book a trip with Tom. I used to go to Norfork once a year but I am up to 3 or 4 trips a year now and plan to retire there. Chuck Merrill |

Larry Dablemont: Norfork yields huge stripers— By Larry Dablemont In the early 1980s, Tom Reynolds was coming to Norfork Lake as often as possible
to fish for stripers. It’s a striper’s nature to do that, thank
goodness. If they went for the shallows and looked for something to hide under,
I don’t know how you would ever land one. But since they are a fish of big open
water, they strip line against the drag, take 30 or 40 yards of it and let you
wear them down. They give you a pretty good tussle. A striped bass is a long way
from what Ozarkians have long thought of as a fish. They aren’t native. They are
a sea species which run up into fresh-water rivers to spawn, and back when South
Carolina’s Santee-Cooper reservoirs were created in 1941, the gates were closed
on thousands of stripers, spawning up the river systems which fed the lakes.
Biologists didn’t figure much would come of it, but the stripers thrived, and
took over. Anglers started catching a few of them, and there was some natural
reproduction continuing, so striper fishing became a Southeastern craze. Other
states to the west began to obtain fingerlings and the salt water striper became
adapted to Southern and Midwestern reservoirs, the trophy fish everyone wanted
to catch. Copyright © 1999-2006 cnhi, inc. |

Tom, my grandson and I had a GREAT time
fishing with you. I really appreciate the care you took to make sure we had a good time fishing for stripers. Our trip was made all the better by catching our limit which included the two 22 1/2 pounders. I'll be back and you'll be my choice for a guide. Thanks much. A friend of mine who owns Crooked Hook Resort on Norfork Lake (Chuck Menschik) told me about Tom and his fishing abilities. He said that he could take me out and show me where the fish are so that even I could catch a fish. You see I have been fishing for years but have never caught a Bass that was a keeper. I got a bunch of lures but no fish. A lot of snags but again no fish. The only fish that I can catch are catfish. So Chuck told me to come down and he is going to get Tom and we are going fishing. So I did. We left at 6:30 AM and headed out. We traveled to various spots on the lake and I can not tell you how many fish we caught. We caught our limit of stripers. We caught so many other fish and I even caught the biggest bass I have ever caught. We were catching fish all day long. It was the most fun I have ever had fishing! Tom knew right where to go and how deep to put the bait, everything. We got back at 7:00 PM and cleaned all the fish, I took a ton of fish home. I am going again in May and I’m looking forward to going for the striper to mount. Thanks Tom ! Greg Slibowski |
I wanted to take my son on a fishing adventure during his first spring break from college. Neither of us had fished for Stripers in the past, so we focused on finding a great lake and a great guide. I spoke to one of my closest friends in Chicago and he could not say enough good things about Tom Reynolds. Based on my friend’s recommendation and after speaking with Tom, I booked a 3-day Striper trip for late March. Not the most opportune time for Stripers but we determine to catch some fish. We arrived on a Sunday evening and it was 80°, which was about 50° warmer than it was in Indy when we left. Our expectations were high! However, much to our chagrin, when we met Tom the following morning, it was 35°. On top of that, there was an easterly wind. This was one tough assignment for Tom. The first day we caught our limit of 4 – 6 lbs. largemouths. My son and I were happy however, Tom was none too pleased. We were there for the Stripers. Day Two, Tom tried a different part of the lake and by 8 AM we hit the mother load. The first strike was my son’s and he landed a 14-pounder. The look on his face was priceless. That was first time I can recall him being speechless. We have caught bass, pike and walleyes from Florida to the Northern Tier and nothing has fought as hard as these Stripers. We ended up catching our limit that day. On the third day, we were in the middle of light snow all day. Needless to say, it was a little slower. The best part (besides catching the fish) was having Tom as our guide. I have been using guides for over 20 years and I can say without hesitation, Tom is the best I have ever fished with. He is both knowledgeable and affable and by far the hardest working guide I have ever seen. My son and I have both decided that we will be making at least annual trips to STR. Thanks Tom. My wife and I were
planning a striper fishing trip early in may. I came across STR
Outfitters web site. We then decided that Tom Reynolds would be our guide
for our first striper fishing trip. And were we glad we did! From the
very beginning, Tom explained how the striper fed and behaved, and how we
would be fishing for them. He had us on fish the very first spot and kept
us on fish! We caught 8 & 9lb hybrids, 10, 14, 20 and 30lb stripers! Will
we be back striper fishing again? You bet! Will we have Tom Reynolds as
our guide? ABSOLUTELY! John & Kelly Shepherd, Eden Prairie MN |
Having fished Norfork Lake
with little or no success I asked the host of the resort I always stay at
about fishing guides. Chuck Menschik of the Crooked Hook Resort
recommended Tom . Tom's knowledge of the lake and where to find fish made
my fishing trip that day the best I've ever had, not only did I catch
hybrid's and walleye, which I'd never caught but, I caught a 29lbs.
stripper!! Thank you Tom. I am looking forward to my next trip fishing
with you. Be seeing you soon. John Jessup Washington, MO |
Lake Norfork was formed in 1944 when
a concrete dam was built across the North Fork River. This created a
crystal clear reservoir with 550 miles of shoreline and 22,000
surface acres at its normal stage. The lake is chock full of gizzard
and threadfin shad. This abundance of baitfish and crystal clear
water makes Norfork a tough nut to crack. I know, I've fished there
every year for the past four years.
My advice to anyone going down there for the first time (or even a veteran, for that matter) is to hire a reputable Fishing Guide. Even if it's a slow day on the water, the knowledge that you can gain is priceless. The local Guides fish the lake almost every day and know what the fish are doing, and when they are doing it. When I first arrived at Norfork in March of 2004, I immediately phoned Tom Reynolds of STR Outfitters to book a trip. Not only did we book a trip, Tom provided me with some helpful tips about where to fish and what to use until our trip, which was several days later. When Thursday came, my son and I arrived at the marina at 5:15 a.m. to meet with Tom. We then boarded Tom's 21.5 foot Falcon and we were on our way. Tom's Falcon is outfitted with a 150 hp Evinrude, trolling motor and Lowrance X 85 graph. Our equipment for the day would be 7 foot Ugly Stick rods with Garcia Ambassadeur 6500c baitcast reels spooled with 15-lb. test Maxim line. Our bait would consist of live threadfin and gizzard shad, which were caught by Tom the day before and meticulously cared for in order to keep them fresh and lively. Once we arrived at our destination, Tom wasted no time setting the lines. Two flatlines rigged with shad and two lines rigged with shad under balloons. All placed in rodholders as we trolled. At about 8 a.m., one of the clickers started singing. My son Steve was first up. He grabbed the rod and the fight was on. The look on my son's face was priceless as he fought the fish like a pro. Nothing in freshwater fights like a striped bass. After a 15-minute battle, Steve managed to get the fish alongside the boat close enough so that Tom could quickly net it. It was a 15-lb striped bass, my son's biggest fish ever! Tom quickly reset the line and we began trolling again. Soon after, we started hooking largemouth bass. They were feeding on shad everywhere in the creek that we were fishing. Can you imagine catching 4 lb. largemouths and being upset? We were not there for largemouths though; we were there for the big stripers! At about 11 a.m., another one of the clickers went off. This time
it was my turn. As soon as I set the hook I knew it was another
large fish. I fought the fish for all of 25 minutes. Thank God I
tired it out before it had a chance to tire me out! As Tom netted
it, I could see that it was the biggest striper I had ever
caught. In my excitement I guesstimated
it to be about 30 lbs. When Tom weighed it with his digital scale,
it read 25.2 lbs. Close enough, what a fish! We continued fishing
for another half-hour, and then unfortunately it was time to go.
What a morning! My son caught the biggest fish of his life and I
caught my biggest striper ever. Just as important as the result, the
information I gain from Tom was incredible. It was worth more than
you can imagine. I learned more about fishing Lake Norfolk in our 5
and a half-hours than I did in the previous 4 years of fishing
there. I can't wait to fish with him again. |
From the catching of the bait, to
locating the fish, to getting them in the boat. Tom Reynolds is the best
on Lake Norfork. He knows the lake and he knows the activity of the
fish. Landing my thirty pound striper was the greatest fishing experience of my life. From stripers to trout, Tom Reynolds is your man. Ronnie Baldwin Wynne, AR. 870-238-4011 |
Three of us caught a limit of BIG fish
(from 18 to 30 pounds) within two hours of hitting the lake. Tom Reynolds
is an excellent guide who knows his business. It was my first trip with
Tom but will definitely not be my last. Michael Hess Wynne, AR. 870-238-7411 |
Tom is an outstanding guide with
excellent knowledge of the lake and the fish. His equipment is top-notch
and his clients are well taken care of. I would not even think of
fishing Lake Norfork without Tom as my guide. Can't wait till my next
trip. Donald Hopper Wynne, AR. 870-238-7804 |
I really enjoyed the fishing trip with members of the STR Outfitters staff. Not
only did I learn several tips and techniques to fishing, I also caught a few
stripers as well. I definitely appreciate their efforts to help a novice
fisherman. I look forward to fishing again this summer with STR Outfitters.
Thanks again, Alex Bates Chicago, IL |
I would like to thank you and STR Outfitters for booking a fantastic
SnowGoose hunt. Seeing thousands of geese and the excitement of gliders
onto the decoys is truly world class hunting. Looking forward to another
booked trip this year. Jerry Chudzicki and group Hobart, IN Ccmchud@aol.com |
While SnowGoose hunting booked through STR Outfitters, you had mentioned
that you also guide striper fishing on Lake Norfork in Mountain Home.
After the terrific success we had hunting, I then booked a fishing trip
for the striper fishing with my wife. Not only did she catch her first
striper, a 17 pounder, the pleasure of catching others of similar size
was beyond expectations. Thanks for the wonderful time and thrills of
striper catching. With regards, Jerry & Edie Chudzicki Hobart, IN Ccmchud@aol.com |
If you want great fun catching BIG fish with big bait, get "hooked up"
with Tom Reynolds. He really knows his way around the lake. Very friendly
and professional. Catch the fish of your lifetime... I know I did!
Thanks again, Sheldon Becker Mountain Home, AR |
Our striper fishing trip last May was fantastic. STR Outfitters put us
on stripers every time out! We managed to catch a couple of "wall
hangers" too! My partner Mike and I are having the 23 & 26 pounders
mounted! Thanks again for a great time. We'll definitely be back. Tim Greene & Mike Perkins tgreene@sprintpcs.com |
My group and I had the greatest time snow goose hunting with STR
Outfitters. I hunted in North Dakota for more than 20 years and the
hunting in Arkansas is every bit as good or better! The lodge and the
food were first class. We hunted in Stuttgart before finding you. It was
too commercial and not nearly as much fun. Keep up the good work. We'll be back for ducks and snow geese! Tim Greene and the Dead Eye Crew tgreene@sprintpcs.com |
Just time for quick thanks on the goose hunting trip last February. This was my first snow goose hunt and I must say that it was thrilling to have wave after wave of thousands of geese coming in. I have already made reservations to be back again this February. You and your staff made our trip a truly memorable one. Sincerest Thanks, |
